THE ROLE OF CARE MANAGEMENT IN IMPROVING MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS (MS) CARE

According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, MS is thought to affect more than 2.3 million people worldwide.¹ The progressive, unpredictable nature of MS and its symptoms combined with the disease’s emotional and social impact creates a complex clinical challenge for healthcare professionals.² The Care Manager Multiple Sclerosis program is designed to support patients with MS through their experiences and outcomes. The program includes a live workshop and a website with educational tools and downloadable resources for patients.

The Care Manager Workshop program

These workshops are designed to provide an opportunity to learn from other MS experts and show how care management can help determine the proper level of care and intervention needed at various stages of the patient’s MS journey. They cover such topics as:

  • How MS is diagnosed and treated, the different phenotypes of MS, and the range of symptoms that may affect patients with MS
  • Treatment and coping strategies to help patients and their care partners better manage the symptoms and challenges of MS
  • Guidance on how to address adherence issues and psychological concerns, and when to intervene
  • Fostering open communication and discussion using sample situation-based probing questions
